Open for all

This Sunday we have a guest Harvest Service, people have been giving out invites to friends and family. As we have done so something has struck me, not only are people not offended but they are pleased to invited. Whilst some won't come along some will, while some will say thanks some mean it.

However it has also occurred to me that underlying this is the need for invitation. Its as if they think they can only come when invited to special events rather than come all the time whenever they want, as if they think it is a closed shop rather than an open house. We need to work hard to change that mindset, so that our friends know they are always welcome at church, that there is no need to wait for an invitation or a special occasion.
