In 2 Tim2:2 Paul writes to Timothy "the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others."
But what does a reliable man look like, how do you spot preaching you can rely on. Here are some marks to look out for:
1. Is everything taught based on the Bible?
2. Is it emphasized that because of our sin and rebellion, a right relationship with God is only possible because of God’s grace alone?
3. Is it clear that salvation is not achieved by what we do, but by faith in what Christ has done for us?
4. Is it underlined that Christ is the exclusive mediator between God and man?
5. Is God exalted above all?
6. Does the teacher/preacher give evidence of godliness in their manner and life?
We ought to pray these thinsg for thsoe who teach us and who preach and look for them whenever we sit under the word of God.
