Does what I'm doing matter?

What are you doing right now?  I don't mean sitting reading this, I mean in terms of your life?  What do you do?  And secondly is it significant?  Does it matter?

I guess many of us have a hierarchy of significance, especially in church where we rank certain jobs as being more significant in kingdom terms.  But that is distinctly unbiblical, the question is 'What is God already doing in and around you today?'  How is God using you to reach those people he has placed around you as you work, as you rest, as you live life?

What opportunities has God opened up for you in the workplace as you work out how the gospel impact your work, and your relationships with your colleagues, those who work under you and your bosses?  What are you praying for God to be doing?

We can multiply those questions because God has not taken his eye off our life, or stepped off his throne.  He is sovereign he reigns, he has a purpose for us exactly where he has put us, and that purpose is to reveal his kingdom as we live in exile.

We need to change our way of thinking and speaking so that we raise this with one another, so that we pray for one another in the situations in which God has placed us to serve him.  We also need to change our thinking about church so that we view it as preparing and equipping us for this day by day moment by moment everyday every member ministry.
