A challenge

We have a guest service on Sunday and I'm preaching Hebrews 3, which focuses on the superiority of Jesus faithfulness to that of Moses as a spur to believers to live faithfully. It has been a challenge to work out what questions this passage poses for the non-believer. But helpfully for both believer and non-believer it takes us to the crux of Christianity - Jesus.

There are many misunderstandings about what a Christian is but Hebrews 3:1-5 helps us see that a Christian is someone who confesses Jesus as the supreme revelation of God as as their high priest whose propitiating sacrifice makes us right with God and brings us into God's family. It also calls us all to fix our thoughts on Jesus - to have worked out who he is and for that understanding to affect our lives.

Pray that on Sunday believers would be encouraged to persevere in focusing on Jesus and that friends and family come and see the distinctiveness of Christianity, the wonder of what Jesus has done and trust in him for themselves.
