Remaking a broken world

Remaking a Broken World by Christopher Ash is the other book I have on the go at the moment. It is a bible overview looking at the theme of gathering and scattering as it appears in scripture. It has taken me a while to get into it but chapter 8 on the Church - gathered worldwide is excellent. Ash argues that there are 7 elements of the reassembled world to which God is bringing us when Christ returns which are seen in the authentic local church:
  1. gathered by grace
  2. humbled by grace
  3. inclusive by grace
  4. connected by grace
  5. secure in grace
  6. forgiving through grace
  7. suffering through grace.

The chapter lifts our eyes and reminds us of what the church is in Christ, and is undoubtedly my highlight of the book so far, though the chapter on Babylon is also excellent.
